Games, Mods and SoftwareThank you for coming by. If you're looking for Gene Davis Software, it is here. The free demo of my Japanese Chess / Shogi game (Windows, Linux, OSX, etc) is available at www.genedavissoftware.com/games/. It's pretty nice. It comes complete with four computer opponents of varying difficulties. I haven't forgotten about GeMMS. I will eventually get back to it. I'm sure it will be a life long project. Currently I'm leaning heavily toward using Coffee Mud as a base to implement it from. Below is an eclectic collection of software I've written or am currently writing. Feel free to distribute them "as is". Please acknowledge this page as the origin. |

Jangband - Mac OS X, Linux/UNIX and Windows This is my current hobby. I'm working on porting Zangband to Java. It doesn't work yet, but I'm excited about it, so here's the link. |

Word List Creator - Mac OS X, Linux/UNIX and Windows (Java application) Give this application a list of words (dups ok), and it will remove uniques and alphabetize them. This makes certain programming and writing tasks easier. The application is packaged as an OS X application, but contains a read me file explaining how to run the program from any Java enabled platform. Note: All input paste in should be lowercase or all caps. No mixed case for this version. |

GDS Time Clock - Mac OS X, Linux/UNIX and Windows (Java application) This is a simple little app for tracking your time. I used it for tracking my hours when I was working with some timecard nazis. |

Gene's Recipe Cards - Mac OS X, Linux/UNIX and Windows (Java application) Gene's Recipe Cards allows you to organize your recipes in eight re-namable categories for quick access and browsing. You may take digital pictures of your recipes and include them to refresh your memory of the recipe later. You can rank your recipes to quickly help you recognize your favorites. You can print your recipes. You can share your recipes in both the custom *.RCF format and in the common *.TXT for sharing with both Gene's Recipe Cards users and others who don't yet have the program. These formats can be emailed or placed on the internet. You can also quickly add new recipes by typing or simply open them if they are in *.RCF format and they will be added to your cards program automatically. |

JApplet Games In short, you should be able to play these games on your web browser if you have a somewhat current version of Java and the Java browser plugin installed. |
Charms is a multi-level puzzle game. I can add more levels if it turns out to be popular. |
Mac OS X Games These zip files will open with the "unzip" command from the command line, if your compression program can't handle them. |
Memory is a graphic matching game. Watch out! It can be addictive. |
Bounce is a low stress paddle and ball game. It hearkens back to the age of pong and breakout and a hundred other games of that era. I consider that the golden age of game creativity. Enjoy a few fun filled low stress games! |
Mazes is a maze solving game. There are three levels of difficulty. Most adults and children can find a level they like, and solve it on screen or print it out. (I've found printing at 90% on landscape to work well.) |

Below is my Mac OS X GUI port of "Four In Line". I also have a text based version, but this is the windowed version. It is a tic tac toe variant. It beats me more than not, so hat's off to its creator. Just unzip the file, and it's ready to play. Pass it around all you want. It's free. |
Below is my Mac OS X GUI game, "Hangman" version 1.0.1. It is pretty fun, or at least that's what my kids tell me. It has around 1200 unique words and/or phrases. ( It even has a section to play on Sundays. ;-) |

Darwin and OS X Terminal Games |
Here's my terminal cube puzzle. It is a 2D version of the 3D puzzle of the 80s. Unzip it with the command line "unzip" or any compression program that can handle zip files. I would recommend setting the permissions to 755. The minimum requirements are the version of Darwin that ships with |

Below is my Mac OS X port of "Mastermind". It is a Terminal application (text based) and should work in Darwin 1.4.1 and better. |
Below is my Mac OS X port of "Bovine Roulette". It's one of those games you have to play at least once, but probably won't play more than ten times unless you're REALLY bored. It is a Terminal application (text based). It should work with Darwin 1.4.1 or above. |
Next is my Mac OS X port of "4 In Line" by Cheok Yan Chenge. It is a tic tac toe variant. It beats me more than not, so hat's off to its creator. It is a Terminal application (text based). First you must install Fink from

Quake III Arena Levels |
Below is my Quake 3 Arena level. Just click on the image to begin downloading it. I call it Round Table. In case you don't know how to install these, it's simple. Download this file as a binary. (This should be automatic.) It is a zip file even though it has the extension ".pk3". Some Operating Systems will know this, so do NOT unzip it. Instead put it in the "baseq3" folder with the other ".pk3" files that your Quake 3 Arena already has. Don't forget to turn OFF pure server while creating the arena. Enjoy! Please let me know if you like this map. With a little encouragement I'll make some more. |

Warcraft II Custom Scenarios |
My newest craze is Warcraft II. I ran across it in the discount bin at CompUSA and I love it. Click on the title of the custom scenario(s) that you would like to download to get these binaries. The download should be automatic (meaning just click on the titles). In your Warcraft II folder there should be a folder/directory called something like "Custom PUDs". Put the ".pud" files in there. Enjoy! |

Please let me know if you like these custom scenarios! |
