I found a broken heart just last spring It was dingy and scarred from trampling and a bit too heavy for its small size Still, picking it up I saw some sparkling It missed most of its faux diamond chain The heart sported no inscription or name It can't be worth much, I thought shining it Even so, do hearts' values ever wane? Does the heart's owner miss the part? Do the heartless ever miss their hearts? I keep it on hand at all times hopeful Ever searching to return the lost heart Even battered and ruined and tossed I think I'd miss my heart if ever lost -T. Gene Davis |
