"Why. Not a question. It was a statement. Why.

"Why? That was a question. Why? is a question. Why. is a statement.

"I remember when I was a child I saw a film about a man. He liked to run.

"Now I'm not physically a child anymore. I'm just as scared now though.

"That man running, he was alone. He didn't know anyone. No one knew his name. He came and went in a city that was so crowded that everyone annoyed everyone else, but he was alone, and no one knew his name.

" 'What a terrible thing,' I thought.

"I've had nightmares about that man -- running -- lonely. No one cared. No one knew him.

"He didn't seem to mind, but he was an actor. He was not a real man. I would mind. I do mind. That is why I want you to say, 'Yes.' "
